The latest generation Emergency Plug® automatically detects whether the vehicle registers that the battery pack temperature is becoming too high, in accordance with the IEC 61851-1 standard. As soon as the Emergency Plug® detects this, it gives a clear visual warning: a red flashing signal next to the blue LED indicator. This allows you to see at a glance whether there is an increased risk.
HOW IT WORKS
Excessive temperatures in high-voltage battery packs pose a serious and immediate risk in incidents involving electric vehicles. When critical temperature limits are approached or exceeded, the situation can quickly escalate into fire, thermal runaway, or thermal propagation.
The new Emergency Plug® H3 enables emergency services to recognize at an early stage whether a vehicle has activated protective measures to protect the high-voltage battery pack. When the Emergency Plug® detects this, it will emit a warning signal by remaining blue with a red flashing part. This early detection makes it possible to take timely preventive measures, such as setting up safety zones, adjusting tactical positioning, preparing cooling measures, or monitoring the vehicle in a controlled manner before further escalation occurs. As a result, the Emergency Plug® contributes to increased safety for emergency responders and occupants.
